Backscatter Grill / Gallery Climate Personification, 2020

sculpture, performance, data set score (collaboration with Harry Meadows)

Result of collaboration by artists Harry Meadows and Andy Weir for the Mechanical Human Matter exhibition in AUB Gallery, this work collects data on the AUB gallery climate, and turns that data into a dialogue between human voice and sensor sculpture:

'Hello? Hello? Is there anybody in there?

Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone at home?...'

Developed through the TRANSFORMATIVE MATTER research group, the exhibited work comes from a dialogue between a series of works passed between the artists:

 - Harry Meadows, Backscatter Grill, 2019, Chrome tube, sandbag, anemometer, wind vane, data transmitter, nylon sleeve, ceiling diffuser

 - Harry Meadows, Backscatter Grill Data Set, 2019, A4 paper. tape

 - Andy Weir, Gallery Climate Personification Score, 2020, A4 paper, tape

 - Andy Weir, Gallery Climate Personification Karaoke, 2020, 3 min performance (performed by Taylor Stankowski)
