Oct 26 - Insecurities Lab

I've been in Barnsley for this collective project responding to the Abandon Normal Devices Festival, which was fun and brought together a bunch of interesting people. There will be a group publication to come for which I'm thinking about some kind of buried anthem, although everything esle is a bit on the back burner for now while I'm in the brain-exhausting space of full book-finishing mode.
Unsecurities Lab is an interdisciplinary research initiative from Lancaster University's Security Lancaster, founded by Dr. Nathan Jones. It explores how contemporary art can act as a live research environment to rethink cybersecurity, AI, identity, and complex infrastructure
The Lab is concerned with how we make judgements when evidence is partial, systems are opaque and the consequences of technological change are difficult to anticipate. Unsecuring Infrastructures approaches AND Festival 2026 as a live research environment for thinking critically and speculatively about Barnsley’s designation as the UK’s first Tech Town, through the lens of the festival artworks.
