KIF Working Meeting, NAGRA, Switzerland
Great to be invited to present my research at this event which i will be joining this afternoon. It's a meeting of the working party on IDKM (information, Data and Knowledge Management) of the NEA Radioactive Waste Committee. NAGRA is the National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste in Switzerland. In other words, this means it's a cross-disciplinary group concerned with questions of how to 'communicate' environmental knowledge around nuclear waste isolation sit

EARTH research symposium, April 26
I've been mainly busy lately teaching and writing my book, although I have had some time to present some research in progress. I presented 'Missed Calls to Deep Futures' at the Lines of Flight symposium with the UAL EARTH research group last week. Here I went back to my Pazugoo work as intervention into understanding sites and toxicity in a nuclear context. This focused on challenging the paradigm of art as 'communication' to an imagined future. It was also cool to learn more

This claim for art to ‘function as’ something else (in this case, law) is interestingly at odds with traditions

Covered with Earth and Stamped Down 2
Ive been testing out some ways of building my research on speculative unearthing into art practice teaching and Ive been developing this research project with students - exploring Chislehurst Caves, making proposals for burial and leading to an exhibition as a series of object burial rituals. This led to some cool stuff this year including a Labubu funeral, work drifting along the river or snagged in bushes, layered future mulch drawings, and a student-curated project returni
